The Greatest Lie Ever Told

It’s an invisible enemy that makes you isolate and separate from the very people God placed in your life to walk along side of you. It makes you cry. Not just a typical cry, a cry of deep despair because the very core of you is confused and broken. “You’re not enough” is the greatest lie ever told. You may never have even heard it from the lips of another person but most likely at some point in your life you’ve heard it whispered from Satan.
It’s so easy to let his lie take deep root in our hearts. I was always pretty good at pushing that lie way down deep only for it to multiply like a thistle weed that you can never get control of or get rid of. Before you know it we start to operate under our own strength and eventually we are to weak to fight. No wonder depression and anxiety disorders are so previlant today. The enemy’s greatest joy is to disqualify us. The Bible tells us in Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
So how do we fight against this lie? By striving for the approval of God and not other people. This will be life changing! We need to recognize that we live in a broken world with broken people who’s souls long for a relationship with God whether one wants to admit it or not… its how we were created. We’ve all hurt people with our words and actions. Sometimes intentional, sometimes not. So getting our approval and worth from other people is like the blind leading the blind. Jesus was sinless and perfect and still there were people who did not approve of him. If they didn’t like perfect then we don’t stand a chance!
When we don’t have the Holy Spirit living in us we have no way to separate truth from lies because we have no truth outside of ourselves. The enemy knows he can’t keep us from reading our bibles or going to church but he does know that he can keep us from forming a close relationship with Jesus. So he feeds his lies to us through so many ways. Think about all the ways we are made to feel like we are not enough. Magazine’s make us feel we’re not skinny enough or strong enough. Commercials make us feel we’re not rich enough. Kids as young as 7 can’t play certain positions in sports because they are told they aren’t fast enough. Social media… well we all know how that actually makes us feel.
We need to go to Jesus first and listen to his truths that we are indeed enough. In fact we are more than enough. There’s nothing you can do to earn his love or forgiveness. He gives it freely and fully to us each and everyday. The Bible says there is nothing that can separate us from his love. What? Nothing? NOTHING! So next time you hear that whisper of lies stop immediately and identify if it lines up with God’s truth. His truth that we are loved, forgiven, chosen and made perfect in his eyes. The closer your relationship with Jesus is the easier it is to not only believe the truth of who you are but to live it! We were never meant to Carry anything beyond the cross.
So today make a change that will set you free! Free from guilt, anxiety and hopelessness. Only good and perfect gifts come from above. Don’t let the enemy steel another minute of your life and another moment of your joy! John 8:32 “and you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free”
