Highway To Hell

Thats a bold title and something I don’t think is talked about enough, especially in church. If more people were afraid of hell maybe we could makes strides in changing the world for the better.

The hard truth is when sin entered the world and caused a divide between us and God we all entered the highway to hell. All of us. Thankfully our powerful and loving God didn’t want heaven without us so he made an exit ramp to save us from our sins.

First though let’s talk about hell. In Revelation 20:15 it says “And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Lake of fire? Ok, you can stop right there I’m willing to do whatever it takes to not be thrown in the lake of fire! But let’s continue.

Matthew 25:30 “And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

2 Thessalonians 1:9 “They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might”

Are you feeling it yet? lake of fire, gnashing teeth for eternity? Just incase there is any question, eternity never ends… never.

It’s been said that its a constant feeling of starvation but you’ll never eat. Its a dying thirst but you’ll never get a drink. It’s a point where you feel like you absolutely cannot bare anymore pain but never get relief.

Ok, now let’s talk about that exit ramp. My best analogy would be about sky diving because I’ve done that so I’m familiar with how it works. Here we all are falling at a high rate of speed towards our emanate death. But that doesn’t have to be our ending becasue there’s Jesus strapped to our back as the parachute! Just like that parachute we can trust him, count on him, know that he is with us and he will save us! Praise God!!

Romans 10:9-10 ESV “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved”

Romans 6:23 ESV “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Wow, that’s breath taking! God offers us a FREE gift of spending eternity in heaven with him by confessing and believing Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead to pay our debt for our sin and bridge that gap that sin created between us and our creator! I don’t know about you but I just want to shout from the mountains “Thank you Lord!!”

My prayer for you today

Lord thank you for suffering in our place. Thank you for your infinite goodness and endless love even though we are prone to walk away. Lord awaken our hearts, and open our eyes to see how unbelievably amazing you are. How you forgive us and offer us a new start everyday. How you relentlessly pursue us because your love is so great and you want us right by your side covered in your protection. Thank you for being our savior and wanting us to have your strength to endure the ups and downs of life because without you we are empty, lonely and lost. You are a mighty God worthy of all our praise. In your sweet and powerful name I pray for each and every one of us. Amen!
